The online college of Lake Superior in Duluth Minnesota has recently been approved to offer two new online medical degree programs (Hemodialysis Technician) for next year. A sixteen credit certificate program will provide fundamental training and will require on the job training prior to being eligible for hire.
The full course (21 accredited degree) will combine online distance education with structured clinical internship experience at a dialysis facility and will offer a well rounded education in the Hemodialysis field.
Candace Barnack vp of academic affairs mentioned “This new program addresses a critical need for dialysis technicians.” Students can expect to be able to complete these courses within a single semester.
According to the Lake Superior online college their are over 4500 dialysis clinics in the US, these facilities all hire hemodialysis technicians to provide direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
